Every road tells a story. This one begins long before the journey itself.
This is the story behind DK Travel Diary. It isn’t just about travel. It is about growing up in a small village in Uttarakhand, finding purpose in the mountains, and discovering that the best journeys are not measured by kilometres, but by the stories they leave behind.
If you are someone who loves exploring Uttarakhand, quiet villages, local culture, and meaningful travel stories, I hope you will feel at home here.
The Place I Never Really Left
When people ask me where I am from, I always pause for a moment before answering.
Technically, I was born in Delhi, but home has never been a city for me.
Home has always been Dadhuli, a small village near Ranikhet, in the beautiful Kumaon region of Uttarakhand.

Many people know Ranikhet as one of Uttarakhand’s peaceful hill stations. It is famous for its natural beauty and one of Asia’s highest golf courses. But for me, it was never a tourist destination. It was simply the nearest town to the place where my story began.
Growing up in Dadhuli, life was beautifully simple. We didn’t have smartphones or social media to keep us busy. Instead, our days were filled with cricket, hide-and-seek, and Tinol, a traditional local game played with five small stones. During school lunch breaks, my sisters and their friends built tiny houses from branches and leaves. At that time, these moments felt ordinary. Today, they have become some of my most precious memories.
Every morning, we walked to school together through quiet village roads surrounded by forests. We never planned to spend time in nature because nature was already a part of our everyday life.
Looking back, I realise those mountains were shaping me long before I ever thought about becoming a traveller. They taught me to slow down, notice small details, and appreciate the simple beauty around me.
Today, when I explore Uttarakhand or travel somewhere new, I don’t just look for famous places. I enjoy listening to local people, understanding their culture, learning the stories behind old temples, and discovering the side of a destination that most visitors never see.
Without knowing it, my journey had already begun.
Not with a motorcycle.
Not with a camera.
But in a small village that I still proudly call home.
When a Simple Video Changed Everything
For a long time, I never imagined that travel would become such an important part of my life. Like many students, I was busy with school, college, and the routines of everyday life. Exploring the world was never part of the plan.
Everything changed around 2016–17, after I finished school and got my first tablet ( Smart
phone) . Internet access was limited, but it introduced me to something that quietly changed my perspective.
One day, while browsing YouTube, I came across a video titled “My First Ladakh Ride – Dream Ride.” I clicked on it out of curiosity.
It wasn’t just the mountains or the motorcycle that caught my attention.
It was the feeling of freedom.
Watching someone share real experiences from the road made me realise that travel wasn’t only about reaching a destination. It was about collecting stories, meeting people, and seeing the world through your own eyes.
That single video stayed with me long after it ended.
Without knowing it, the idea of becoming a traveller had already found its place in my mind.
College Roads, New Dreams
College brought new friends, and with them came new adventures.
We never needed a detailed plan. Sometimes, all it took was one message:
“Let’s go for a ride.”

Some trips were carefully planned.
Most were not.
A short ride often turned into a full day on the road. We stopped at small tea stalls, watched sunsets from quiet viewpoints, and discovered roads that were never marked as tourist attractions.
Those rides taught me something simple.
The best memories are rarely planned.
Sometimes, they are waiting at the next turn.
Over time, I stopped chasing famous destinations. I became more interested in the stories behind them—the people, the local traditions, the old temples, and the culture that makes every place unique.
That was the moment I realised I didn’t just enjoy travelling.
I enjoyed understanding the places I travelled to.
From Watching Stories to Living Them
The more I travelled, the more curious I became.
At first, I simply enjoyed the journey. But slowly, I found myself paying attention to something else.
How were these travel stories being told?
How did a simple ride make thousands of people feel like they were part of the journey?
That curiosity introduced me to cameras, video editing, and moto vlogging.
I wasn’t trying to become a creator overnight. I was simply trying to capture the same feeling that had inspired me years earlier.
My first recordings were far from perfect.
I often recorded the same clip several times, deleted it, and started again. Speaking in front of a camera didn’t come naturally, but every ride taught me a little more than the last one.
Eventually, I stopped worrying about creating perfect videos.
Instead, I focused on sharing honest experiences.
That simple decision became the foundation of DK Travel Diary—a place where every journey is about more than beautiful destinations. It’s about real experiences, local stories, and discovering the hidden side of Uttarakhand.
Why I Started DK Travel Diary
As I travelled more across Uttarakhand, I noticed something.
Most people visited the same famous places, took a few photos, and returned home.
But the real beauty of Devbhoomi often existed beyond the tourist map.
It lived in quiet villages, hidden roads, local traditions, old temples, and conversations with the people who had called these mountains home for generations.
That is the reason I started DK Travel Diary.
Not just to share destinations.
But to share the stories behind them.
Through this travel blog, I want people to explore Uttarakhand beyond the popular attractions and experience it the way locals do—with curiosity, respect, and an open heart.
Whether it is a forgotten village, a mountain trail, a roadside tea stall, or the history behind an ancient temple, every place has a story worth telling.
For me, travelling has never been about ticking destinations off a list.
It has always been about understanding the people, preserving local culture, and creating meaningful travel experiences.
If DK Travel Diary inspires even one traveller to travel more responsibly, support local communities, and discover the hidden side of Uttarakhand, then every journey I have shared has been worth it.
This Is Only the Beginning
Looking back, I never planned to become a traveller or start a travel blog.
What began with a childhood in a small village, a simple YouTube video, and a few unforgettable road trips slowly became DK Travel Diary.
Today, this platform is more than a collection of travel articles.
It is my way of preserving memories, sharing local stories, and helping others explore Uttarakhand beyond the usual tourist destinations.
There are still countless villages to discover, hidden trails to walk, local traditions to understand, and inspiring people to meet.
This is just the beginning.
If you enjoy meaningful travel, love nature, respect local culture, and believe that every destination has a story waiting to be heard, I invite you to be part of this journey.
Welcome to DK Travel Diary.
Let’s Explore Uttarakhand, one story at a time.
